The New York Yankees hold a two-game lead over the Boston Red Sox as they start a four-game series on Friday.

The series could end up deciding where a playoff matchup between the two teams would take place, and both sides could be getting some key pieces back this weekend. The Red Sox could get Trevor Story, Garrett Whitlock and Roman Anthony back from the injured list. The Yankees have already revealed that they are getting Max Fried back.

Aaron Boone said Fried will start one of the games of Saturday's doubleheader in the Bronx, with Carlos RodΓ³n starting the other game. It will mark the first time all season that Fried, Gerrit Cole, Cam Schlittler and RodΓ³n will be in the rotation together.

Fried went on the injured list with a left elbow bone bruise for the second time this year, but his absence this time was much shorter. The Yankees were playing it safe with him, and now have him back for one of the most important series on the schedule.

Cam Schlittler will take the mound on Friday, with Fried and RodΓ³n to go on Saturday. Will Warren is the probable starter for Sunday's matchup. The Yankees would have loved to have Cole lined up for this series as well, but they will avoid seeing Sonny Gray and Payton Tolle.
