The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are scheduled to face off in a four-game series over the weekend over at Yankee Stadium and there's a real chance that two superstars return from injuries during the series.
Right now, both Roman Anthony and Max Fried are on the Injured List but there is a chance that both are ready to go in time for the series.
On Tuesday, Anthony said that he believes a return on Friday could be in play, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com.
"In Worcester, Roman Anthony says he 'has no flight booked' to return to the Red Sox but feels close to ready and thinks Friday in NY is in play," Cotillo wrote.
Fried's last start came on Aug. 13 against the Seattle Mariners. That day, he tossed five innings and allowed one run. On Tuesday, Fried tossed four innings in a live bullpen and Greg Joyce of the New York Post Sports reported that he could be in play to return vs. Boston.
"Max Fried threw four innings of live BP yesterday. Could potentially put him in play to be activated this weekend against the Red Sox (doubleheader on Saturday)," Joyce wrote.
That's not it. Boston should have Trevor Story back in the mix for the series as well.
All in all, there are some big-name stars potentially getting back in the mix in time for a series between the two biggest rivals in baseball.
