Despite his many injuries, Jacob deGrom is one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB history.

He proved that again on Thursday night, stifling the Washington Nationals in the Texas Rangers' 2-0 victory. deGrom was dealing, racking up 10 strikeouts over six innings of one-hit ball and improving to 9-8 with a 3.77 ERA.

The 10 punchouts raised his career total to 2,008, making him the second-fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 2,000 K's in terms of both games and innings. Only Randy Johnson pitched fewer games and only Chris Sale threw fewer innings.

deGrom is just the 95th pitcher in MLB history and the ninth active pitcher to reach the milestone.

It's an impressive accomplishment for the 38-year-old right-hander, who's in his 13th Major League season. He's already won two Cy Young awards and made five All-Star teams as well, building an interesting Hall of Fame case despite his lack of longevity and relatively light counting stats.
