Ketel Marte did not show up to the Arizona Diamondbacks' Monday matchup against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and was placed on the restricted list.
"It's been a crazy day," manager Torey Lovullo said, per MLB.com's Max Ralph. "All I know is that he's dealing with a personal issue. We're trying to figure that out, and he didn't show up today and he was put on the restricted list. That's as much as I know right now. I just was doing my best to reach out to him, and there was very little coming back."
Reports indicate that he is dealing with a personal matter, but he is reportedly going back to Phoenix to get an MRI. Marte exited Friday's game early with knee soreness, sat out Saturday and played on Sunday. He traveled with the team from Atlanta to Boston, but did not show up at Fenway Park for the game.
"One day after being placed on the restricted list with what the club called a 'personal matter,' Diamondbacks star second baseman Ketel Marte is now heading back to Phoenix for an MRI on his left knee, a source told MLB.comโs Steve Gilbert," wrote Ralph. "The team has not confirmed the news."

The Diamondbacks are fighting to make the postseason as a wild card team, and doing so without Marte is tough. The Diamondbacks are one game back of a wild card spot entering play on Tuesday. Ildemaro Vargas started at second base with Marte out on Monday.
