The Boston Red Sox acquired Adley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles on Aug. 3 in exchange for Anthony Eyanson, Enddy Azocar, Kyson Witherspoon, Carlos Narváez and a player to be named later.
When Rutschman returned on Tuesday, the Red Sox revealed who the player to be named later was. The team sent outfielder Harold Rivas to the Orioles to complete the deal. Rivas is now the No. 26 prospect in the organization.
Rivas had the second-biggest signing bonus in the 2025 international free agency class. It's possible that there was a condition attached to the Rutschman deal. Rivas was originally reported as part of the return for Rutschman. However, the final deal did not include him, but rather a player to be named later.
Rivas is only 18 and not close to the big leagues. However, he has great tools and could end up being one of the best prospects in the Orioles organization in a few years. He .772 OPS in 46 games in the Florida Complex League.
Rivas is the fourth-best prospect who goes to the Orioles as part of the Rutschman deal. Eyanson, Witherspoon and Azocar were the headliners who went to Baltimore, with Eyanson as the biggest prize. He is now the Orioles' top prospect and could be in Triple-A soon. He could debut as soon as next season.
