Tarik Skubal made his second start in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform on Monday, but it was his first at home.
Skubal went six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out six batters in his first start. On Monday, he was not as sharp. He went five innings, allowing three earned runs, two walks and four hits. He struck out six batters once again.
It was not even the worst start, but by his standards it was not great. The Dodgers still won the game, but Skubal knows he needs to be better.
"We won, so, I'll gladly take that in a win any day of the week," Skubal said after the Dodgers' win, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez. "I'll be better going forward."
Skubal threw 53 of his 95 pitches in the strike zone. He was still able to get swings and 66 of his pitches went for strikes.
"I kind of sprayed the ball a little bit," Skubal said. "That's kind of unusual for me."
If that's what a bad start for Skubal looks like, the Dodgers are in a good spot. They have Blake Snell lined up for Tuesday, so it will be back-to-back games with a two-time Cy Young Award winner on the mound for the Dodgers.
