The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Kansas City Royals on Monday, and former NFL quarterback Derek Carr was in attendance.
Carr is from Fresno and went to college at Fresno State. He also played quarterback in California in the NFL for six years before the Raiders relocated to Las Vegas. It's not a huge surprise that he was at a Dodgers game.
"Shoutout to Dave Roberts," Carr wrote on X on Monday night. "We are at a Dodgers game and he noticed my wife holding our newborn and kids in the heat during batting practice and invited us into his office to cool off for 30 minutes. A genuinely kind person. Thanks Dave. Go Dodgers."
The Dodgers are going through a rough stretch, but it has not changed the personality of their manager. Roberts went out of his way to accommodate Carr and his family when he did not have to.
Even though Carr is no longer in the NFL, he made himself a known figure in his 11-year career. He made the Pro Bowl four times and was an MVP candidate in 2016. After leaving the Raiders, he spent two years with the New Orleans Saints before he retired in 2025.
It seems like Carr is spending retirement with his family, cheering on the Dodgers as they look to three-peat. It also seems like Dave Roberts now has a fan for life.
