Angel Genao made his Major League debut on Wednesday night, and it was one for the record books.
Genao cracked four hits against the New York Mets, setting a Cleveland Guardians record for most hits in an MLB debut. The team's previous record was three, shared by nine different players.
He's also just the 22nd player in MLB history since 1900 with at least four hits in their MLB debut.
All four of Genao's hits were singles. He finished 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run in the Guardians' 6-5 loss to the New York Mets.
Cleveland's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, Genao was called up from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. The 22-year-old switch-hitter immediately lived up to the hype, giving the Guardians' lineup an instant boost.
With Cleveland battling for a playoff spot and the AL Central crown, Guardians fans are hopeful he can be a difference-maker for them down the stretch.
