The Los Angeles Dodgers are in the middle of a six-game losing streak, but their rotation is about to get a huge boost.
With Shohei Ohtani currently not pitching, the Dodgers could use some more arms in the rotation. They got a big one when they acquired Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers, but he's not the only Cy Young Award winner joining the rotation. Blake Snell is expected back for the next homestand.
“Just making sure that he comes out of today feeling good," manager Dave Roberts said on Wednesday. "He’ll start next week.”
Snell has been down after getting elbow surgery to remove loose bodies earlier this year. He has made just one start this season and gave up four earned runs. Last season, he had a 2.35 ERA in 11 starts and was sensational in the postseason. He made three quality starts in the postseason and also gave the Dodgers a scoreless 1 1/3 innings in Game 7 of the World Series.
Getting him back will be great for the Dodgers. With Ohtani out, the Dodgers' rotation will be Skubal, Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Justin Wrobleski and Eric Lauer. Eventually, the team will get Ohtani back, as well as Tyler Glasnow.
For now, Snell will be a major boost as the Dodgers try to get out of this slump they are in. He has made four rehab appearances in his latest rehab assignment. Snell has gone 7 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs and striking out 19. His last outing was not the best, as he surrendered three earned runs and five hits in Salt Lake City.
