The Los Angeles Dodgers enter play on Wednesday on a five-game losing streak, but fans don't need to worry too much.
The main reason fans need to calm down is simply the fact that the team is too talented to struggle for too long. The lineup has three MVPs and seven total All-Stars. Not to mention, they added a two-time Cy Young Award winner at the trade deadline.
They are also currently missing Will Smith. The rotation is currently without Shohei Ohtani, Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, another two-time Cy Young Award winner. The losing streak has put the Dodgers 1 1/2 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers for the top seed in the National League, but the good news is that the Dodgers will face the Brewers next week.
That series could end up determining which team gets the top seed in the NL for the postseason, and that's the series both teams may need to go all out for. It's very likely that the two see each other in the National League Championship Series, but in reality, the Brewers don't stack up to the Dodgers.
The Dodgers were the No. 3 seed last year and dominated the Brewers in the NLCS. Sure, the losing streak is not fun, but in the large scheme of things, it's not going to change how the Dodgers stack up against other teams in the National League.
The Dodgers should be at full strength for the postseason, and that's really all that matters. The Dodgers likely do not care which seed they are, knowing the roster they have. It will be tough for any team to score runs against a postseason rotation of Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Snell and Ohtani. Getting a bye through the first round and home-field advantage would be nice, but it's not necessary for the Dodgers to win it all.
