The Lombard family will never forget Aug. 4, 2026.
In the Bronx, their eldest son, George Jr., made his Major League debut for the New York Yankees. The Yankees' top prospect immediately lived up to the hype, belting a long solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning with his parents in attendance.
Lombard Jr.'s blast off Hunter Dobbins gave New York a 2-0 lead over the St. Louis Cardinals, which he and his teammates preserved for the win.
Meanwhile, his younger brother, Miami Marlins prospect Jacob, also went yard in his minor league debut for Single-A Jupiter. Like his older brother, Jacob also went deep in his second at-bat and did so against the St. Louis organization.
The similarities didn't end there, either. Both brothers homered to left field on breaking balls, with identical launch angles of 33 degrees.
The Yankees are hoping Lombard Jr., 21, can give them a boost at shortstop and be an upgrade over Anthony Volpe, who was demoted to Triple-A. Meanwhile, the Marlins are hoping to get a similar impact from Jacob someday, although he's only 18 and still has a long way to go.
