Just days away from the Aug. 3 MLB Trade Deadline, the Detroit Tigers are a team in transition.
On the one hand, they appear poised to trade two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, who will be a free agent this winter.
On the other hand, they have a new star on the way in Max Clark, whom they called up prior to their weekend series against the Athletics.
Clark, 21, is the Tigers' No. 1 prospect and the No. 13 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. The young outfielder was the third overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft and has made a strong impression in the minor leagues with 11 home runs, 21 steals and an .802 OPS in 90 games at Triple-A this year.
After losing four of their last five games and falling to 51-58, the Tigers hope Clark can give them a boost down the stretch and gain some valuable MLB experience.
