The New York Mets acquired Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason to be their ace.

However, Peralta has not lived up to expectations and is a strong candidate to be dealt. The two-time All-Star may just need a change of scenery, and the Brewers are a team he knows he can perform well with. They are the team that made him the player he is, and according to Jeff Passan, the Mets and Brewers have discussed a trade that sends him back to Milwaukee.

"The Mets have been talking with the Brewers about Freddy Peralta," Passan said on Tuesday.

Peralta has a 4.99 ERA this season, and the Mets have clearly lost the trade for him. However, he fits the mold of a Brewers trade deadline target. He would only cost the remainder of his $8 million salary and minimal prospect return since he is only a rental.

The Brewers have built a reputation for fixing broken pitchers, and Peralta would certainly be a pitcher they could fix. They already know his stuff and have worked with him extensively in the past. Not to mention, they already know how he would fit in their clubhouse.

"No one would turn down Freddy Peralta," Brewers manager Pat Murphy said on July 20. "Of course, everyone here would be ecstatic."
