The clock is ticking on the Detroit Tigers, who have just six days to decide if they will trade ace left-hander Tarik Skubal.
Here are the latest rumors as Monday's trade deadline approaches.
"The Detroit Tigers are starting to make it a much easier decision for the front office to unload ace Tarik Skubal at the trade deadline," USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported Monday. "The Tigers drop their third consecutive game, 8-5 to the Baltimore Orioles, and are now 50-57."
Clearly, the Tigers have entered the trade deadline no-man's land.
"Rival executives remain uncertain about what the Tigers will do before the deadline, and they can see the logic behind either path," ESPN's Buster Olney reported Monday.
"'If they wait until Friday to make that decision, that'll leave them plenty of time to make a deal,'" one official said to Olney. "'Three full days, plus Monday -- that's an eternity.'"
Should the Tigers decide to deal Skubal, it's unclear if the Los Angeles Dodgers will be in the mix.
"With a week to go before the MLB trade deadline on Aug. 3, the Dodgers don’t appear to be moving toward a trade for Skubal, according to people with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly," the Los Angeles Times' Maddie Lee reported Monday.
But The Athletic's Katie Woo has a different take.
"The Dodgers will remain engaged on Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal if he becomes available on the trade market," Woo reported Monday.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand held an AMA on Reddit Monday. His take on the Skubal trade market is quite compelling, saying it would be a "shocking development" if the Tigers deal the two-time Cy Young Award winner.
"The next 4-5 days should tell the entire story on which direction they choose," Feinsand added.
"One executive predicted that we won't see many deals until the final 24-48 hours before the August 3 Deadline," Feinsand noted. "Next Sunday and Monday could be absolutely bonkers."
