The Athletics are expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, and the team has one player who could be a target for both the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
A couple of weeks ago, it was hard to imagine the Red Sox and the Yankees in the same boat at the trade deadline. However, a 15-game win streak from the Red Sox has changed circumstances. Both teams will be buyers, and both teams need a catcher. Shea Langeliers of the A's would be a great fit for both teams, and he has yet to sign an extension like some of the other young stars on the A's.
Langeliers is represented by Scott Boras, so an extension is unlikely. The A's likely won't be able to pay him as a free agent, so trading him is not out of the question while his value is high. However, according to MLB.com's Martín Gallegos, the team is "unlikely" to trade him.
Langeliers is under club control through 2028 and was named an All-Star for the first time this year. He has tremendous trade value and would instantly make the Yankees or Red Sox a much better offense. However, it looks like both teams will have to pivot.

Hunter Goodman and Ryan Jeffers are the other catchers who could be dealt this summer. Adley Rutschman could also be had, but the odds the Baltimore Orioles trade him are low, and the odds they trade him to a division rival are even lower.
Langeliers is slashing .263/.333/.497 with 23 home runs. It would take a couple of top prospects to get the A's to consider moving him. Any team with a need at catcher would love to have him, but it looks like he will be going to Las Vegas with the A's next season.
