The Toronto Blue Jays need more pitching and it sounds like they could get another big-time hurler in the not-so-distant future.
Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer hasn't pitched in a game in the majors since June 10 due to injury. It's been a disaster of a season for Scherzer so far and he has made just six starts and logged a 10.23 ERA over that stretch. Hopefully, he can turn things around when he gets back up to the majors. That should come soon as Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reported that he is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday.
"Max Scherzer will make a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, John Schneider says," Matheson wrote.
Again, it hasn't been Scherzer's season so far, to say the least. When healthy, the 41-year-old struggled to get outs. On top of that, he has dealt with injuries pretty much all season to this point. But if Scherzer can turn back the clock one more time and help the Blue Jays soon, it would be huge for a club that is teetering right now and is inching dangerously close to selling before the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays need pitching. It sounds like Scherzer could be coming back soon.
