The New York Mets are expected to be sellers at this year's trade deadline, and Francisco Lindor is a name to keep an eye on.
According to SNY's Chelsea Janes, Francisco Lindor is not one of the players on the list of unavailable players for the New York Mets at the trade deadline. However, it will be difficult to trade him considering his offensive woes this year and his contract.
"Rival executives believe that the Mets will trade shortstop Francisco Lindor this winter – not at the trade deadline," wrote USA Today's Bob Nightengale on Sunday. "He’s owed $160 million over the next five years after this season, and has a full no-trade clause, complicating a deal by Aug. 3."
Lindor has proven he's one of the best players in the game when he's going right. However, this year has been an anomaly for him. He is struggling at the plate, and the Mets as a whole are a dumpster fire. There are rumors that he and Juan Soto do not get along, and if those rumors are true, it's clear that the Mets would rather have Soto than Lindor.
If Lindor is made available in the offseason, plenty of teams would be lining up to trade for him. He plays a premium position and has the potential to be an MVP-caliber player. A potential work stoppage could complicate trading Lindor in the offseason, but the Mets should have no problem finding suitors for him.
