The Boston Red Sox went into the All-Star Break on a nine-game win streak, and that streak has now reached 12.

Not only has the 12-game win streak put the Red Sox back into the postseason picture, but it has also gotten them over .500. The last time the Red Sox were over .500 was on March 26, when they were 1-0. This 12-game win streak is their longest winning streak since 2006.

The Red Sox missed the postseason in 2006, and will be hoping to avoid a similar fate to that of the 2006 team. A couple of weeks ago, all of the talk around the Red Sox was about which players they would trade away. All of a sudden, the question seems to be who they will bring in.

The team needs a right-handed bat, and perhaps some infield help. Regardless of who they add, Craig Breslow deserves some credit for staying confident in his team. After Alex Cora was fired, Breslow was under plenty of pressure, but he did not panic and start selling off valuable pieces. That patience paid off, and now his team looks like a real threat.

The longest win streak in the big leagues last season was 14, done by the Milwaukee Brewers. Coincidentally, Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler were all part of the Brewers last season. They could once again be part of the longest win streak in baseball for the second consecutive season.

The Red Sox's 12-game win streak is the longest by any team this season, and they are not looking to stop there. They play the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, and then face the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays in separate three-game series.
