The New York Yankees could use an upgrade in the infield, but may not want to add an expensive option.

It seems clear that the team is sticking with Anthony Volpe at shortstop. They have Josรฉ Caballero as a backup plan if something changes. They could look into upgrades over Ryan McMahon at third base, but he makes way too uch money to be on the bench. If the Yankees look to go a different direction at third base, they will need to find a way to trade him, likely eating some of his salary.

Hyeseong Kim of the Los Angeles Dodgers could be a good fit. He plays multiple positions, and is under club control through 2029, and is currently set to make no more than $5 million in any of the seasons he is under control. The Dodgers are loaded and do not have a place for him in the big leagues.

Kim has had success in the big leagues, hitting .271 with 18 stolen bases in 114 games. He has won four Golden Gloves in Korea and can play shortstop and second base. If the Yankees acquired him and played him at second base, Jazz Chisholm Jr. could move to third base, getting McMahon out of the lineup.

Kim can also play in the outfield if needed. He is a solid player with great tools, but he is stuck on a team with too much big league talent. There is no real spot for him on the Dodgers, but on the Yankees, he could be an upgrade over at least one of their struggling infielders.
