New York Yankees fans holding out for a major change at shortstop should not hold their breath.

According to the New York Post's Jon Heyman, the team is not "prioritizing" adding a shortstop at the trade deadline. That means Yankees fans can forget about Francisco Lindor, Willy Adames or any other big-name shortstop to replace Volpe.

Volpe is in his fourth year as the Yankees' primary shortstop, and the offense has yet to improve. He has the tools to be a 20-20 player, but his career batting average sits at .224 and his career OPS is .662. His defense has gone back to being great this year, but it's gotten to the point where his defense is not worth the terrible performance at the plate.

The Yankees saw Jose Caballero handle shortstop while Volpe was hurt and he looked solid. Offensively, he has brought more juice than Volpe, but even he is not an elite player offensively. He does bring elite speed and led the league in stolen bases last season. His OPS is better than Volpe's but still below .700.

The Yankees have struggled without Aaron Judge, and adding a better shortstop could be one way to improve. However, it looks like once again they are sticking with Volpe.
