The Milwaukee Brewers' starting rotation has been one of the best in baseball so far this season, but they are suddenly in need of some help.

Jacob Misiorowski is the favorite to win the National League Cy Young Award, but he missed his last start because he did not recover well after his previous outing. He is expected back in the next series. Kyle Harrison, who has also been great this year, is on the injured list now with left forearm tightness. Then there is Brandon Woodruff, who was placed on the 60-day injured list with another shoulder injury, and Pat Murphy noted that his outlook "isn't good."

The Brewers have Shane Drohan, Robert Gasser, Logan Henderson and Brandon Sproat, which is the kind of depth teams dream of. However, they do not have much postseason experience with Woodruff out. Plenty of their young arms are still finding their way, so the Brewers may want a more reliable arm for the postseason.

They acquired Lance McCullers Jr., but he is expected to pitch out of the bullpen to start things in Milwaukee. He has struggled this season, and the Brewers could fix him and get him in the rotation at some point, but they have a great team and may not want to leave anything to chance.

The Brewers are already without Quinn Priester for the season, and adding a pitcher at the trade deadline would be wise. Tarik Skubal would be the dream addition for any contender, but a player like Joe Ryan could give the Brewers an elite starter to replace Woodruff in the rotation.
