Inside-the-park home runs are pretty rare these days, unless you're Colorado Rockies outfielder Jake McCarthy.

Three weeks after hitting his first professional inside-the-parker against the Pittsburgh Pirates, McCarthy ripped another one against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday.

Both were leadoff homers, too, making him the first player with two leadoff inside-the-park home runs in the same season since Edd Roush in 1929.

McCarthy's first one came against Pirates ace Paul Skenes at Coors Field on June 20, sparking the Rockies to a 2-1 victory. His second one came on the road at Oracle Park against Trevor McDonald, accounting for Colorado's only run in its 3-1 defeat.

Sunday's inside-the-parker capped a stellar first half for McCarthy, who's thriving in his first season with the Rockies after five years with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old outfielder enters the All-Star Break with several career highs, including 10 home runs, a .301 batting average and an .863 OPS.

McCarthy's been on fire since Memorial Day and has been one of the best hitters in baseball over the last month. He'll look to pick up where he left off in the second half when play resumes after the All-Star Break.
