The Atlanta Braves released Daysbel Hernández on Tuesday to make room on the 40-man roster for Connor Thomas.

Thomas made his big league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers last season, and the Braves signed him to a minor league contract in the offseason. Thomas has three options, so he gives the team some roster flexibility. Hernández had been with the Braves organization since 2018.

He spent time in the big leagues in each of the last three seasons, pitching in a total of 59 games for the Braves. He has a 3.38 ERA in the big leagues, but had been in Triple-A Gwinnett all season. In 22 games, he had a 5.06 ERA, and the Braves felt comfortable releasing him. Thomas gives them a fresh arm who had success in Triple-A this year.

Thomas has a 1.14 ERA in 10 Triple-A games. He has made two starts and has 16 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings of work.

Hernández's experience in the big leagues should help him find a new home. His numbers in the big leagues are not going to blow anyone away, but he has had enough succes to where a team may be willing to give him another opportunity.

He was once the No. 17 prospect in the Braves organization, but alas, his run with the team has come to an end. As for Thomas, he has pitched in just two big league games and surrendered 12 earned runs across 5 1/3 innings in those games. He will be hoping for much better results in Atlanta.
