The Los Angeles Dodgers already should be considered the favorites to win the World Series this season. If Los Angeles could add another big-name piece this summer ahead of the trade deadline, that would only make the point even clearer.
You can never have too much pitching and ESPN's David Schoenfield pitched a blockbuster deal for the Dodgers to acquire Tarik Skubal.
"Milwaukee Brewers/Los Angeles Dodgers/Tampa Bay Rays: Trade for Tarik Skubal. Los Angeles: Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto have been great and Justin Wrobleski keeps winning despite a low strikeout rate, but the health of Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow remains a question," Schoenfield wrote. "So there's that, but there's also an uncertain future for the Dodgers.
"If the labor negotiations eventually end with a salary cap being implemented, it won't be as easy for the Dodgers to spend their way to World Series titles, so there's added imperative to win now -- and make a little history in joining the 1936-39 Yankees, 1949-53 Yankees, 1972-74 A's and 1998-2000 Yankees as the only teams to win at least three straight World Series."
If the Dodgers could get something like this done, the 2026 season would arguably be over. It's going to be hard for any team to take down Los Angeles with the roster as is. If the Dodgers were to get Skubal, no one could.
