There are going to be a handful of intriguing options available ahead of the 2026 Major League Baseball trade deadline, including potentially a former fan favorite for the Boston Red Sox fan base.

Lefty Eduardo Rodriguez is a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, but while sharing a list of big-name players who could be on the move this summer, USA Today's Bob Nightengale mentioned Rodriguez and predicted that the Diamondbacks will have "no choice" but to listen to offers if they stay on the playoff bubble.

"Prediction: The Diamondbacks are on the playoff bubble, sitting 2Β½ games back of a playoff berth," Nightengale wrote. "They are 13-2 against the San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies, but 30-40 against everyone else. If they fall out of the race, they must decide whether to simply trade starter Michael Soroka, who’s on a one-year contract, or dump Rodriguez, who is owed $21 million in 2027 before he’s a free agent again. They may have no choice but to listen to any and all offers."

Boston fans remember Rodriguez well. He spent seven seasons with the Boston organization and won a World Series title. This year, he has a 2.21 ERA in 17 starts. If available, he'll bring a big return to Arizona.
