Red Sox Absolutely Have Yankees Ace Gerrit Cole's Number And It's Shocking

The New York Yankees have one of the best hurlers in Major League Baseball in Gerrit Cole, but he hasn't pitched that way against the Boston Red Sox.

Cole entered the day on Saturday with a 5.87 ERA in 14 career starts against Boston, which shockingly was the second-highest ERA of a Yankees hurler with over 75 innings pitched against Boston, per ESPN Insights.

"Gerrit Cole will take the hill against the Red Sox today. Cole has a 5.87 ERA in 14 career starts against the Red Sox as a member of the Yankees," ESPN Insights wrote. "Among the 67 Yankees pitchers with at least 75 IP against their rival, only Tommy Byrne (6.10) has a higher ERA than Cole."

Cole did not improve against Boston on Saturday. He allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched, including a lead-off homer to Masataka Yoshida.

For as bad as Boston's offense has been so far this season, it was still enough to dominate Cole.
