Dodgers Predicted To Snatch $19 Million All-Star From Tigers

The Los Angeles Dodgers don't really need to do anything crazy if they want to make another deep run this season.

Los Angeles isn't anywhere near full strength with guys like Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Edwin Díaz, and Teoscar Hernández all on the shelf right now. That doesn't seem to matter, though. Los Angeles still has the best record in baseball at 49-27.

As we inch closer to the trade deadline, the Dodgers should get even better. Los Angeles has proven over and over again that it isn't afraid to make a move before the deadline, so expect to see fireworks.

The bullpen specifically could use a boost and Jack Harris of The California Post predicted that Los Angeles will add to it by landing All-Star reliever Kyle Finnegan from the Detroit Tigers.

"Kyle Finnegan, Tigers (ETA: August)," Harris wrote. "The Tigers are dead, so it makes sense for the Dodgers and other contenders to pick at their remains. With no guarantees of how Edwin Diaz will pitch when he returns, the Dodgers need whatever bullpen help they can get. The Tigers can offer them that in Finnegan, a 34-year-old right-hander with a 2.01 ERA in 31 1/3 innings. Finnegan is under contract through next season –– his deal also includes a mutual option for 2028 –– but that’s of minimal value for the Tigers, who will rebuild after they lose Tarik Skubal this winter. Here’s an idea: What if the Dodgers acquire Skubal and Finnegan in the same trade?"

Finnegan has a 2.08 ERA in 33 appearances and is in the first season of a two-year, $19 million deal. If the Dodgers could land Finnegan and eventually get Díaz back, the bullpen will have firepower to spare.
