If the Boston Red Sox don't turn their season around, they're going to end up being one of the teams to watch around Major League Baseball ahead of the 2026 Major League Baseball trade deadline.
Boston has a handful of pieces that could make sense as trade candidates with All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman being the biggest example. Chapman looks like the best closer in baseball right now and if a club isn't going to contend for a playoff spot, that's a luxury they do not need. Hopefully, Boston can find a way to turn its season around. If not, the Red Sox should be able to find a suitor for Chapman.
He's been talked about a lot lately and he was asked about his thoughts on a hypothetical return to the New York Yankees if the two sides could come to terms on an unlikely deal. He made it clear that he would want an apology from general manager Brian Cashman about how his time in New York had already finished before.
This is an idea that fans don't need to think about, though. Jon Heyman of The New York Post said on Monday that a deal is "very unlikely."
"It's very unlikely that he is traded to the Yankees anyway," Heyman said. "He's not getting an apology, I know that for sure. But they do need bullpen."

So, there you have it. If you're a Red Sox fan, you don't really have to worry about Chapman going to New York, for now.
