The 2026 Boston Red Sox have been one of the biggest disappointments in Major League Baseball this season.
After winning 89 games last season, the Red Sox are in the middle of a disaster season and aren't showing signs of improvement. In fact, things keep getting worse. After yet another loss on Tuesday night, Boston is now 27-38 on the season. Being 11 games below .500 wasn't the expectation for the organization heading into the campaign.
Boston fired former manager Alex Cora and a handful of coaches and hasn't been able to turn its season around. Again, things keep getting worse for the organization.
The Red Sox have made it clear that they are looking to add. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow made it clear that Boston doesn't have to "prove" that it's worth investing in with trade additions, as shared by The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey.
"I don’t think it’s a ‘prove’ type thing,” Breslow said to McCaffrey. “I have a lot of confidence in the players that we have. I’ve seen the way that they’ve grown together, that they’ve taken to the work. They’re committed to doing everything they can to turn this around in the same way that we are.”
But it can't be ignored how badly Boston is playing. This isn't a club that has turned a corner, to say the least.
