It certainly sounds like the Boston Red Sox's No. 1 overall prospect could make his big league season debut in the coming days.

Payton Tolle is down with Triple-A Worcester right now, but that very well could change soon. Sonny Gray was placed on the 15-Day Injured List on Tuesday and called up Tyler Samaniego in his place.

"The Red Sox today placed RHP Sonny Gray on the 15-Day Injured List with a right hamstring strain. To fill his spot, Boston recalled LHP Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester," the Red Sox announced

Boston didn't promote a starting pitcher on Tuesday because the club is set in the rotation until Gray's next turn in the rotation later on in the week. Gray got the ball on Monday, so the Red Sox are set for the next few days. Boston will need to make a change soon and Tommy Cassell of Worcester T&G Sports shared on X that Payton Tolle is in "wait-and-see mode" right now and isn't scheduled to pitch in Triple-A this week.

"Payton Tolle is in wait-and-see mode here in Triple-Worcester according to WooSox manager Chad Tracy," Cassell wrote. "He’s not scheduled to pitch at any point here in AAA."

Katie Morrison-O'Day of MassLive.com shared that there is a "pretty good likelihood" Tolle is called up this week.

"There’s a 'pretty good likelihood' Tolle goes up to the Red Sox this week according to Chad Tracy — he’s not scheduled to pitch in Worcester this week as of now," Morrison-O'Day wrote.

So, it certainly sounds like Boston fans will see the electric flamethrower over the next few days with the organization.
