The Boston Red Sox are going to have another depth option at their disposal down in the minors for the foreseeable future.
When the Red Sox completed their offseason trade with the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire Caleb Durbin, Boston also landed utility man Andruw Monasterio, who is in the majors right now. The Red Sox also acquired former first-round pick Anthony Seigler, but he was brought along slowly as he dealt with left knee patellar tendinopathy.
He began a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday and the organization saw enough. On Friday, Boston announced that Seigler has been reinstated from the 10-Day Injured List and has been optioned down to Triple-A Worcester.
"The Red Sox reinstated INF Anthony Seigler from the 10-Day Injured List and optioned him to Triple-A Worcester following Worcesterβs game last night against Columbus," Boston announced.
This is good news for the club in general. Seigler is now another utility man depth option down in Triple-A ready to be promoted at any time. There's a lot to like about him. In 2025, he slashed .285/.414/.478 with eight homers, 39 RBIs, 23 stolen bases and four triples in 72 games at Triple-A in the Brewers' farm system. He made his big league debut and played in 34 games and slashed .194/.292/.210.
He's now another left-handed bat to watch down in the minors who can play both second base and third base and also a bit of catcher. He's fully healthy now as well.
