If there's anyone who knows which Boston Red Sox players are built for the big moments, it's David Ortiz.
After more than a decade of providing the biggest swings in franchise history, Ortiz has become a popular television personality. He's seen the best the world has to offer during FOX's coverage of this month's World Baseball Classic. And on Saturday, he proudly proclaimed a young Red Sox star to be one of the best he's ever seen.
Roman Anthony, whose home run in the fourth inning was the deciding blow in Team USA's semifinal win over the Dominican Republic on Sunday night, was the subject of the ultimate praise from Ortiz during his appearance on the postgame show.
"Some guys were asking me about you as a player, and I told them that you are the complete package," Ortiz said on the FOX broadcast. "You are a great athlete, good listener, your work ethic is at another level."
Seeing a Red Sox player eliminate his home country from the WBC seemed to be a moment of internal conflict for Ortiz, who laughed as he presented Anthony with a "My Dawg" t-shirt, a tradition for Ortiz when a player comes to the desk.
"This might be one of the toughest moments for me to say 'Congratulations' to someone that I really love," Ortiz quipped.
The entire WBC has been a dream sequence for the Red Sox and their fans, and at least one player from the projected 26-man roster is now guaranteed to win the tournament. If Anthony has anything to say about it, the U.S. is in a great spot to win it all on Tuesday night.
