The Boston Red Sox had a rollercoaster of an offseason.

Boston's biggest loss of the offseason was Alex Bregman. That is pretty clear. But he isn't the only member of the 2025 team who isn't expected to be back. Lucas Giolito is still a free agent, as of writing, without a deal in sight. Boston reloaded throughout the offseason with a focus on pitching and now the club sounds like they're ready to take a step forward.

Despite losing Bregman, Boston clearly has high hopes for 2026. So much so that Red Sox president and chief executive officer Sam Kennedy said there is "no ceiling" for the club in 2026, as transcribed by MLB.com's Ian Browne.

"There's no ceiling on the 2026 Boston Red Sox,” Kennedy said. “This group, if things come together, and we have good health, I think sky's the limit for what we might be able to achieve. But it's February. ...

"We said it at the end of the year, getting back to the postseason was the first step, and now we're looking forward to taking that next step,” said Kennedy. “We won 89 games last year. We want to build on that regular season win total, get into the postseason, stay healthy, and take that next step in October. Obviously, winning a World Series is the ultimate goal.”

So, while things may not have been smooth, it sounds like the club has high hopes.
